Comarca do Eume

The Eume region, made up of the municipalities of Cabanas, A Capela, Moeche, Monfero, Pontedeume, As Pontes, San Sadurniño, As Somozas, and Vilarmaior, and included within the Ferrolterra geodestination, offers a wide range of leisure options related to maritime, gastronomic, industrial, and active tourism, or simply the pleasure of discovering a unique territory in this part of the province of A Coruña overlooking the Ártabro Gulf.

After immersing yourself in the magical charm of the Fragas do Eume, the journey can continue toward the coast to see the mouth of the River Eume in Pontedeume, at the entrance to the Betanzos estuary, to stroll through typical fishing villages, or to enjoy peaceful beaches such as Magdalena and Chamoso (Cabanas) or Ber (Pontedeume). Inland, among other interesting options, you can visit the artificial lake of As Pontes de García Rodríguez, which fills the site of the largest open-cast lignite mine in Spain, or follow one of the routes that showcase the municipality’s industrial heritage.

A section of the English Way (Camino Inglés) runs through the Ferrolterra region, linking the lands of northern Europe with Santiago de Compostela and standing for centuries as an example of cultural exchange with English, Irish, and other peoples from northern Europe.
